First off, I really want to thank the board gaming community for their class. We played this game 2 years after it was first released and despite being a frequent reader of /r/boardgames and boardgamegeek.com, I didn’t run across a single spoiler. Hats off to you. Well done. Wow. That’s really incredible when you stop to think about it.
So we played 22 games of Pandemic Legacy. 4 of those were “intro games” (where we messed up the rules so badly on our first few games that we just reset until we got it right). So officially, we played 18 games.
18 games at about $10 per player works out to $0.56 per play per person. I’ve heard a lot about the consumable nature of this game being a downside, but for the amount of entertainment value we got out of it, none of us are complaining. It’s an interactive roleplaying adventure. It’s worth it.
Wow! What a fantastic experience. None of us had ever played a game like this before (and I’ve played Pandemic 45 times). What a great way to tell a story. It’s full of twists and turns and surprises and the pressure of the choices you have to make. Man! The pressure! and the repercussions! And when that thing happens! That time we squeezed out a win with a single card left in the draw pile, and that time we lost the game before making it even once around the table. Highs and lows. Ups and downs. Decisions and consequences.
A truly fantastic gaming experience we will remember for a long time. We can’t wait for Season 2!
And the best part… I think it cemented our casual group into a real, official, regular game group. 🙂
